Bison Football Coaching Comparison , Season Comparison ~
At the finish of the 2019 campaign, Coach Janocko's All Time Record is 284-114-3, for a win percentage of .708.
Win #200 was recorded on October 14th 2011 by a score of of 34-28 at Hamburg PA. Win #205 gave Coach sole
possession of the all-time win number in District IX, coming on November 19th, 2011 with a 29-23 victory over Johnstown for that season's d6/9 crown at Mansion Park in Altoona. Win #250 occurred September 16, 2016 in
a 35-21 game at Huntingdon and #275 over Bellefonte 49-21 in a d6/9 Title game at Du Bois 11/9/18.
His winning percentage ranks Coach Janocko third among all Bison coaches, behind only Coaches John Kase
( 1913 - .800 ) , and William Cutler ( 1952 - .900 ).
However, a good dose of perspective is in order. Coaches Kase and Cutler each held the reins for only one season as compared to Coach Janocko's 35. Of the five other Bison coaches to have served for five or more seasons, only one
( Robert Reed, 1922-27 - .589 ) exceeded the .500 mark.
The two coaches to have immediately preceded Coach Janocko had also turned in respectable numbers.
They were John Wiley ( 4 Seasons, 1981-84 , .558, #9 Rank ) and Kevin Karrs ( 6 Seasons, 1975-80 , .477, #11 ).
In addition, with the sole exception of the undefeated season of 1955 ( 10 wins - 0 losses, 100 % ), Coach Janocko
claims the eight highest winning season percentages and ten of the top thirteen. In Coach Janocko's 35 seasons,
twenty squads have topped the .700 mark, while eight of those are above .900 .
As another point of comparison, in the thirty seasons ( 1955-84 ) prior to Coach Janocko's reign the Bison compiled
a winning percentage of .368 ( .368 over 30 years vs. .708 for Tim's 35 ). The years '55-'84 included the undefeated
year of 1955, and the .818 '82 season & 2 .727 records in '77 & '83, which would contribute nicely.
Coach Janocko has had losing seasons only in 1985,1987, 1991 & 1995.
In the modern era of the playoff system, a perfect season is attainable only by going undefeated through the regular season, through the playoffs and in eventually winning the State Championship.
